How many sessions does it take to completely erase a tattoo with a laser?

Generally, between 4 and 10 sessions are recommended and most tattoos will have disappeared after the 6th session. The size of the tattoo, its color, the quality of the pigments implanted as well as their depth, will be determining factors on the number of sessions required for your tattoo removal. The first consultation included in all our packages is used to define how many sessions will be necessary to completely erase your tattoo, according to its various characteristics and your skin. The number of sessions can be re-evaluated after each appointment and if you have already opted for a package, it can be adjusted if necessary.

Is tattoo removal painful?

The technology has greatly evolved since the first tattoos, making the sessions bearable, just like a tattoo session but much shorter. When the laser comes into contact with the skin, you will feel a tingling sensation, which can be reduced with the application of an anesthetic cream such as Emla, 60 minutes before the session. You can find this type of cream in pharmacies.

Can we go to the sun after a tattoo removal session?

It is recommended not to expose the treated area to sunlight or UV light until 3 months after the last session. Indeed, exposure could lead to hyper-pigmentation of the skin. You can protect the area directly with a bandage, or when the skin is healed, use a sun cream with a protection factor of 50+, reapplying every hour.

Is the laser effective and safe on dark and matte skin?

The parameters of the picosecond laser allow for the removal of all skin phototypes, from the lightest to the darkest. Thanks to selective photothermolysis, the laser acts on the colored areas of the skin, however the natural pigments of the skin are not the same size as the exogenous pigments of the tattoo. The power of the laser as well as its duration of shooting are thus regulated by our experts, in order to target only the pigments of the tattoo. Therefore, tattoo removal is done in complete safety. The number of sessions for darker skin types will be higher but the result will be the same as for lighter skin types.
